About Me

Western District Families

Merron Riddiford

While growing up in the Western District of Victoria, I became interested in social history from a young age. Over 30 years ago. I turned to my family’s history and found I had connections with several Western District towns from Colac to Casterton. The stories I found about my family led to a greater knowledge of the local history of the Western District and the stories of other Western District families. Those stories were waiting to be told, and 2011 saw the beginning of Western District Families.

I have a Bachelor of Arts, and a Diploma of Family Historical Studies from the Society of Australian Genealogists (S.A.G.), and I am a member of S.A.G., the Genealogical Society of Victoria, the Hamilton History Centre, Stawell Historical Society, and the Association of Professional Genealogists. My special interests include cemeteries, military and sporting history, and old photographs.
